Molekule Air Purifiers: Meeting Today’s Indoor Air Challenges

Every year, access to clean indoor air becomes a more urgent concern. This has been made especially obvious in the places where wildfires ran rampant in 2020, such as California and Australia. However, it has been an ongoing concern for years in every major city, and this has led to a variety of efforts to improve indoor air purity.

Some indoor air purification systems have gotten a lot of press, but the big, whole-building ones are beyond the reach of the average apartment dweller or homeowner due to their high costs. Therefore, most people turn to portable units that are much more affordable. Portable air purifiers can use a variety of methods to clean the air, ranging from simple filtration to systems that destroy pollutants altogether.

One unit that destroys pollutants is the Molekule air purifier. According to a recent Molekule review, it uses a proprietary method known as the Photo Electrochemical Oxidation system, or PECO system. It also uses a filtration system, which increases its purifying power even more. The active parts are enclosed in a small housing that is sleek and modern, and the unit easily fits on a tabletop.

The Molekule review goes on to say that this is a multi-stage system. First, the air is drawn in through the unit’s 360-degree intakes. Then, it passes through layers of high-efficiency filter material, which catch any larger particles. After this, the air enters a chamber that contains a UV-A light and a nanocatalyst-coated filter. The light interacts with the filter to create the PECO effect, which destroys the small particles that made it through the first layers of filtration. Once the air leaves the unit, it is purified, and no harmful byproducts are created.

Treatment in the PECO stage eliminates an amazing variety of pollutants and unwanted micro-particles, including viruses, bacteria, mold, VOCs (volatile organic compounds), and other such things. The process is effective on particles down to 0.1 nanometers. This technology is said to have transformed the air purification industry.

There are several sizes of air purifier made by Molekule. The original, known as the Air, is made for rooms up to 600 square feet. This is about the size of an average family room or a large office. It currently retails for $799. It stands 23″ tall and weighs 18 lbs., and a Molekule review says it looks modern and elegant. Surprisingly, it has a leather handle for easy mobility.

The Air Mini and Air Mini+ are the other current models that you will see in a Molekule review. Both of these are made for rooms up to 250 square feet, are 12″ tall, and have modern designs. The Air Mini+ has a vegan leather handle, while the Air Mini uses a wool felt one. Vegan leather is an imitation leather that looks more realistic than most other faux leathers.

The Air Mini+ has a particle sensor that rates the air quality in your room, and if you enable Auto Protect mode, the machine will adjust its fan speed to give you the most efficient purification it can deliver. It is also compatible with Apple’s Home system, which lets it be controlled through the Home app. This unit retails for $499 at the time of this writing.

By buying the Air Mini instead, users forego the Auto Protect mode and Home compatibility, but can still control the machine using the Molekule app that is available for both Android and iOS systems.

All Molekule devices can be controlled through the Molekule app. Fan speed and more can be determined this way. You can therefore operate your Molekule device from anywhere that you can get a signal, assuming you have an Android or iOS phone.

Molekule’s Air devices are great investments for those who are serious about eliminating as much contamination from their air as possible. The PECO system can eliminate viruses and bacteria down to 0.1 nanometer, as well as all of the commonly-targeted pollutants. This makes them excellent additions to today’s indoor lifestyles.
