Morgan Stanley hired former Goldman Sachs trader Edward Glenn Hadden to run its Treasury bond desk last year, even though his former employer had placed the trader on paid leave for about a year following an internal inquiry, said three people familiar with the situation. Shares of Dell (DELL) leaped on Monday after the computer maker was upgraded to “buy” from “sell” by Goldman Sachs (GS). While Goldman noted the risks of a still-depressed PC market, its analysts said they believe sentiment and expectations could tilt positive in 2013. Morgan Stanley trader Edward Glenn Hadden is under investigation by regulators at CME Group over trades in Treasury futures four years ago while he was employed by Goldman Sachs, according to a regulatory filing. Hadden is a managing director and head of global interest rates products at Morgan Stanley. Prior to joining Morgan Stanley, Hadden was a partner at Goldman Sachs, and head of government bond trading. Research In Motion received a big boost on Thursday after Goldman Sachs raised its rating on the company, sending shares of the BlackBerry maker soaring more than 12 percent in trading before the morning bell. NEW YORK Goldman Sachs on Monday added Yahoo Inc. to its conviction buy list and raised its price target to $ 24 a share from $ 22. “With capital allocation actions serving as a catalyst to drive a revaluation on the stock, we believe the value of Yahoo’s balance sheet assets and the core business are worth more than the current stock price,” analysts at Goldman Sachs said.
