SAN FRANCISCO Shares of Facebook Inc. rose 5% early Monday after Bernstein Research raised the stock’s rating to outperform citing the social networking giant’s “revenue growth potential” in the next two years. Shares of Apple Inc. also edged up 1% to $ 578 after Citigroup re-initiated coverage with a buy rating, saying the stock is poised for gains after a near-term sell-off. NEW YORK Analysts at Bernstein Research on Monday upgraded shares of Facebook Inc. to outperform from market perform. They believe the social media company will grow revenues faster than the market consensus over the next 12 to 24 months. “Further monetization of (mobile) Newsfeed inventory will be the main driver of growth” the authors told clients in a Monday note. They added that, “We also believe that at this point and for the near-to-medium term, its revenue growth trajectory will be the main driver of Facebook’s stock performance.” The analysts set a $ 33 a share price target on the stock.

SAN FRANCISCO A U.S. judge said he would consider whether to preliminarily approve Facebook’s second attempt to settle allegations the social networking company violated privacy rights. Earlier this year, U.S. District Judge Richard Seeborg rejected a proposed class action settlement over Facebook’s ‘Sponsored Stories’ advertising feature.
