The U.S. government will release reports on weekly jobless claims and monthly wholesale prices at 8:30 a.m. Eastern. Economists surveyed by MarketWatch forecast jobless claims to rise to 370,000 in the week ended Sept. 8 from an initial reading of 365,000 in the prior week. The producer price index, meanwhile, is projected to climb 1.5% in August, largely because of higher oil prices. The core rate, which excludes food and energy, is seen rising a much smaller 0.2%
