When you have happier employees, they are much more likely to be productive employees. So if you want your business to grow, one of the key things is making your team happier. They will then be happier at work, enjoy coming to work and will want to be more productive. If you treat your team badly, they won’t be too interested in going above and beyond at work for you. They will just do the minimum that is required of them. So what are some of the ways that employees can be empowered to be more productive?
I don’t think that there are many people that react well to being micromanaged. Of course, you want to check on what is happening. But if you are always there checking, it can feel like you don’t think they can do their job. Your employees want to feel like they are trusted. If they do, they will be more productive. They will take more pride in their work and will want to succeed. So if you feel like you have clear messages for your team, then you just need to manage them well. You can manage a team from a distance. You just need to set them clear goals and deadlines and then leave it up to them. How it gets done should be up to them, not you. Just as long as it does get done.
Make it a Great Place to Work
If people enjoy coming to work, they are more likely to be productive. They won’t dread coming in and getting on with work. So you could make sure that their space is decorated in a manner that is conducive to the environment. You could make sure that there is a social side to the workplace and opportunity to socialize. You could even get something like a table soccer game for the resting area so that they can blow off some steam. Something else you should consider is an employee counselling service. We all have busy and stressful lives; some more than others. So some of the team might react well to being able to talk through what is going on in their life with a professional. This kind of thing shows that you care about them. If they feel cared for, they are more likely to work hard and want to improve the business they work for.
In business, there may be some information that can’t be shared with certain people. Some things can be, though. Withholding information is one of the most disempowering things that an employer could do. If people don’t feel like they know what is going on, then they might start to act out. Moreover, if they don’t understand why things are done a certain way, they can’t be sympathetic to that. Your staff needs to know how and why things are done. As well as being kept up to date with all of the day to day the goings on in the business.
